St. Pete to Sanibel Island

June 5- June 10. After 3 days in St. Pete, it was time to move on. TS Colin washed the boat for us, laundry was done and groceries were restocked.  The decision was made to travel on the ICW rather than offshore since the gulf was still churning.  Besides, it was the more scenic route.  We headed south with a plan to stay in Sarasota at Marina Jack’s.

We left Sarasota around 7am and again stayed in the ICW.   Our choice was a rough gulf or 11 bridges and beautiful scenery.  We opted for the view.  Serenity got to feel what running at trawler speed was like.  This was going to be a slow, easy ride with lots of gawking.  Dolphin often visited and played in our wake.  So many osprey perched in the waterway signs; many with chicks waiting to be fed.

We arrived at the Sanibel Marina around 4:00.  Since it was still early, we rented bikes and headed out to stretch our legs before dinner.  We rode to the lighthouse and checked out the beach.
