Day 2 Crystal Beach to Lake Charles

Long day arriving at the Gold Nugget around 8:30.  A fair amount of barge traffic along the way.

Still dealing with the house battery’s not charging enough or charging period on the engines alone.  We are running the generator and using the battery charger to charge the house batterys and are having no issues.  Good news is we are running the ice maker since we have the generator on.

We got up and 5:00 and did engine checks and we’re off the dock at 6:30.  We are waiting at the Calcasieu Locks now, a east bound barge just went in front of us and we have to wait on a west bound barge and then it will be our turn.

Day 1 Heading Dog River Alabama

Thanks to Allan Batchler and Jim Adams for taking this picture of the boat leaving Seabrook Marina.

We had a slow start on Friday but we are off, stayed at Luke and Jillian dock in Crystal Beach for the first night.  We spend the afternoon trouble shooting an electrical issue but it seemed to be OK in the morning.  After leaving Saturday morning we thought we were having the same issue again and decided to head back to Seabrook Marina to have it looked at by an electrican.  After talking to the electrican over the phone we decided to turn around and head to Lake Charles which was our next stop.  We are running the generator now and everything seems to be OK.  The issues is the engine alternators are not keeping up with the electrical loads.  Maybe we have to many refrigerators, freezers and electronics for the engine alternators to keep up with.  Hum, time will tell.
